AUNA’S GARDEN

PROFILE

I want to work at the garden because: I like plants and I want to be able to help people.

Two of my personal goals for working at the Dallas Youth Garden this summer are:

  1. Expand my social skills

  2. Help the people who need to be helped

Two things I hope to learn from working at the Dallas Youth Garden are:

  1. How to ask for help when needed

  2. how to take care of a variety of plants

I think my biggest challenge will be: Asking for help when it is needed.

My favorite vegetable or fruit is: Strawberries.

I hope to contribute this to the garden this year: Good participation and lots of vegetables.

GARDEN PROJECTS

1.Project One

Question/Problem(s) Proposed: What are Organic Fertilizers?

Answer(s) I found: An organic fertilizer is a fertilizer that is derived from organic sources, including organic compost, cattle manures, poultry droppings and domestic sewage. We use these because they are less harmful to the plants.

2. Resipe

Name: Garden Salad

Vegetable Used: Zucchini and lettuce

Ingredients: Lettuce, zucchini, tomatoes, ranch, and Parmesan cheese.

Steps to Make it: Cut up the vegetables, then put them in a bowl and toss them. Add the cheese and ranch, then enjoy.

Opinion: It was pretty good, I would add more tomatoes though.

3. Another Project

Problem: My carrots are wrapping around each other.

Solution: Thin them better.

Test/Activity: Half of the row that was thinned better had bigger carrots and they weren’t wrapped around each other.

Results: Better looking carrots.
