PROFILE

I want to work at the garden because:

Two of my personal goals for working at the Dallas Youth Garden this summer are:

1. I want to work and learn from people who like gardening as well.

2. I would like to be better at time management.

Two things I hope to learn from working at the Dallas Youth Garden are:

  1. I hope I learn more about job skills in a working environment.

2. I want to get better gardening skills.

I think my biggest challenge will be: I think that keeping up with weeding will be one of my biggest challenges.

My favorite vegetable or fruit is: Carrot

I hope to contribute this to the garden this year: I hope I can help others and keep my garden healthy.

  • June 12-17: I continued weeding, we started putting hay down and I got my sign put up.

  • June 27-1 July: I weeded a bit and watered my garden.

  • July 4-8: We finished putting done hay and I watered.

Because: I like beans the best because it was fun to pick them.

Name: Salad

Vegetable Used: Squash

Ingredients: squash, spinach and ranch

Steps to Make it: You get the ingredients, cut the squash and then throw everything in a bowl.

Opinion: I added to much ranch but the squash reminds me of the texture of potatoes.

Organic Fertilizer

What are organic fertilizers ? Organic fertilizers are fertilizers produced naturally.

How are they different from non-organic? Non-organic fertilizer helps the plants growing in the soil while organic fertilizer feeds the soil. Non-organic fertilizers can be made of ammonium, phosphate and potassium.

What are some examples of an organic fertilizers? Some examples of organic fertilizer are manure, compost, blood meal, bone meal, boi fertilizer ect.

Academy date worked: 8/25/23

Primary tasks performed: I helped out with giving people food.

What does the resource center do: The resource center helps people with their basic needs by offering them supplies, emergency financial assistance, and information & referrals in convenient places.

What was the best thing about your visit?: My favorite part was learning what the Academy did and how they helped people.
